Until the church is planted

Wurmsham belonged to the Counts of Wahl. The place was part of the Electorate of Bavaria and formed a closed Hofmark , the seat of which was Wurmsham Castle. The last lock was demolished shortly after 1800. In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria , today's municipality was created with the municipal edict of 1818 .

Incorporations

On May 1, 1978, as part of the municipal reform, the previously independent municipality of Pauluszell, which had more inhabitants than Wurmsham, was incorporated. At the same time, a small area with the towns of Gänsöd , Grub , Kremping , Lehing , March and Rafolding and less than 100 inhabitants was assigned to the neighboring municipality of Bodenkirchen . The new municipality became part of the Velden administrative community.

Eight months after the end of the war, the first municipal elections (municipal council elections) took place in the municipalities of Bavaria on January 27, 1946. In April and May 1946 the first elections for mayors, district administrators and district assemblies followed. In 2006 the 60th anniversary was celebrated.

The municipality of Wurmsham is a member of the following special-purpose associations:

Municipal council

The municipal council consists of 12 people. After the 2020 local elections (for comparison: 2014 local elections ), there are nine (six) men and three (six) women. The seats after the 2020 local elections will be distributed as follows:

  • Community of voters future no (two) seats

In the last municipal council election in 2020, 1,123 (1,082) citizens were entitled to vote. 843 (746) of them took part as voters, which corresponds to a voter turnout of 75.1 (68.9) percent.

In November 2008 the local council decided to dissolve the two parish offices in Wurmsham and Pauluszell and to set up a new parish hall with a chancellery and conference room in Seifriedswörth as a replacement.

Culture and sights

The Church of St. Nicholas is a late Gothic brick building from the 15th century. The neo-Gothic altars contain late Gothic figures from around 1500. These are Saints Nicholas and Benno on the high altar as well as Magdalena and Georg on the north side and Katharina on the south side altar.

Economy and Infrastructure

In 1998, according to official statistics, there were 142 employees at the place of work in the manufacturing sector and 43 in trade and transport. There were 399 employees at the place of residence subject to social security contributions. There were none in manufacturing and six in construction.

According to a corresponding assessment of the economic strength of the municipality of Wurmsham, the key allocations of the Free State of Bavaria fell from 441,032 euros in 2015 to 276,284 euros for 2016 to 89,736 euros in 2017. That corresponded to a decrease of 79.65 percent. In 2018 they rose by 196 percent to EUR 265,696 compared to the previous year, and then rose again by 138 percent in 2019 to EUR 632,648. In 2020, the value remained at a similarly high level at 612,800 euros.

education

Up until 2008 there were two primary schools in the municipality, each with two classes in Pauluszell and Seifreidswörth. In November 2008, the local council decided to merge the two primary schools to form the Pauluszell primary school with four classes until the 2009 carnival holidays.
