history

Until the founding of the forerunner churches

Traces of 3000 year old Celtic settlements were discovered during railway construction work.

"Chughenhusen" was first mentioned between 1161 and 1171 in the traditions of the Moosburg collegiate monastery . The name probably means "House of Cogo". About "Kugenhusen" and "Kugnhausn" the place name developed until 1819 to "Kumhausen". The other place names in the municipality are almost all derived from personal names. The oldest church mentioned in 842 was that of Preisberg. The parish church Grammelkam, the later parish churches of Hohenegglkofen and Obergangkofen as well as the branch church Götzdorf were mentioned for the first time in 1315. In the 13th century, the Kumhausen court was under the control of the Helmsdorf henchman. In 1338 there was a farm in “Kugenhausen”, “Kugenperg”, “Chupfmül”, “Preisperg” and “Romelkeim” owned by the Wittelsbach dukes, belonging to the “Ambt Herding”. The municipality was almost entirely agricultural. Only in Kumhausen have bricks been burned since the 15th century. According to the accounting books, the municipal master bricklayer of Landshut repeatedly paid money for bricks to build the St. Martin's Church from the "brick towns of Perg and Kumhausen".

Kumhausen belonged to the Landshut Rent Office and the Erding Regional Court of the Electorate of Bavaria. Today's part of the municipality of Obergangkofen was a Hofmark that was last given to the barons v. Edlmar and then the Walser von Syrenburg belonged. Hohenegglkofen was in the Teisbach district court. With the municipal dictates of 1808 and 1818, several political communities emerged in what is now the municipality. The place Kumhausen belonged to the community Niederkam.

Religions

The majority of the parishioners are Catholic . For the municipality there is the parish association Kumhausen, which belongs to the dean's office Landshut of the archdiocese of Munich and Freising . Another association with the neighboring parish of St. Margaret- Achdorf , the dean's office of Landshut, was formally completed after a little over a year in advance on May 1, 2014 with the establishment of the “Achdorf-Kumhausen Parish Association”. The pastor is Alexander Blei. The regrouping to the dean's office in Landshut is also planned.

The individual parishes are St. Petrus in Grammelkam, St. Ulrich in Obergangkofen and St. Johannes Baptist in Hohenegglkofen . Grammelkam has branches in preisberg and Rammelkam ; the parish district includes the main town Kumhausen and the former main town Niederkam. Obergangkofen has a branch in the former municipality of Götzdorf, Hohenegglkofen in Weihbüchl and in Jenkofen, which is part of the municipality of Adlkofen (which makes up the archbishopric) .

Incorporations

Today's municipality of Kumhausen was created on January 1, 1971 through the merger of the previously independent municipalities of Götzdorf, Niederkam, Obergangkofen and Windten. Rather unusually, a completely new municipality seat was chosen: Kumhausen, which has grown considerably due to the expansion of the neighboring Landshut , into which it merges seamlessly. On January 1, 1972, part of the dissolved community of Hohenegglkofen was added. In the same year, parts of the former communities of Niederkam, Götzdorf and Hohenegglkofen were given to the city of Landshut.

coat of arms

The coat of arms, which has been in use since 1980, is split between blue and silver over a five-mountain split by silver and blue. Crossed diagonally at the front there is a silver cross-staff and a silver key, at the back a black goat hull with a black halberd in its front feet. The Fünfberg im Schildfuß is a reminder of the formation of the Kumhausen community from the five formerly independent communities of Niederkam, Windten, Obergangkofen, Götzdorf and Hohenegglkofen. The trestle body with the halberd comes from the coat of arms of the Walser, who had owned the Hofmark Obergangkofen since 1792. The staff of the cross from the former municipal coat of arms of Hohenegglkofen refers to the local church patron St. Johannes. The key as an attribute of St. Peter refers to the patron of the parish of Grammelkam. The tinging in the Wittelsbach state colors silver and blue underlines that a large part of the municipality was directly under the lordly courts of Erding, Geisenhausen and Teisbach.
