history

On December 24, 1902, the company was renamed "Alois Pöschl Tabakfabriken" as the Brasiltabakfabrik A. Pöschl & Cie. Founded in Landshut by the snuff agent Alois Pöschl, who went into business for himself at the age of 29. Pöschl's partner and co-founder Max Ebenherr left the company a short time later. In view of the initially modest means and the few equipment, the young entrepreneur initially concentrated on the production and sale of "Schmalzler" snuff.

The location was chosen because the tobacco mills could be operated on the Isar , in the middle of Lower Bavaria, a very important sales area for snuff.
