Roland Berbig

Roland Berbig (born May 12, 1954 in Quedlinburg ) is a German literary scholar . He was a professor of modern German literature at the Humboldt University in Berlin.

Life

Roland Berbig studied English , American , German and pedagogy at the Humboldt University in Berlin from 1974 to 1978 . In 1981 he received his doctorate with the work Interpretative Investigations on Poetic Forms of Inheritance using selected examples of Hölderlin's reception in GDR poetry and then worked as a research assistant at the Film Academy for Film and Television in Potsdam-Babelsberg and at the Humboldt University . In 1994 he completed his habilitation with the writing of writer profiles and literary associations. Contribution to the literary history of Berlin in the 19th century and was an adjunct professor at Humboldt University from 2000 to 2019 .

He is a member of the board of the Theodor Fontane Society , his main research areas are literature of the 19th and 20th centuries, especially Theodor Fontane , Günter Eich , Uwe Johnson and GDR literature .
