Christoph Links (born September 15, 1954 in Caputh ) is a German publisher , author and editor.

Life

Christoph Links is the son of Roland Links (1931–2015), who worked as an editor and publisher in the GDR .

From 1975 to 1980 he studied philosophy and Latin American studies at the Humboldt University in Berlin and the University of Leipzig . He then worked for six years as the Latin America editor for the Berliner Zeitung . In 1986 he became assistant to the management of the Aufbau-Verlag .

On December 1, 1989, Links applied for a publishing license. He founded one of the first private publishing houses in the GDR, which focuses on politics and contemporary history of the 20th century. In Ch. Links Verlag published standard works for the Democratic Republic of the history of the Germans .

The publishing house has a turnover of 1.5 million euros. From 2020 he will also remain independent with the Aufbau publishing group until at least 2025.

Links received his doctorate in 2008 from Humboldt University with a study on the privatization of GDR publishers after the turnaround to become a Dr. phil. The work was published in 2009 under the title Das Schicksal der DDR-Verlage. Privatization and its consequences.

Since June 13, 2017, Left has been the spokesman for the freedom of opinion interest group in the German Book Trade Association (IG Freedom of Opinion).
