Latin American Studies
Latin American Studies , also called Ibero-American Studies , is the science that traditionally deals with Latin American languages and Latin American literature and culture. Latin American Studies explores all texts written or spoken in Spanish and Portuguese and all Spanish and Portuguese-speaking American cultures. Some Latin American institutes such as B. the LAI at the FU Berlin also have a social science focus.
The French-speaking areas of America ( Haiti , French Guiana, etc.) and English-speaking regions ( Belize , Jamaica, etc.) are not the subject of Latin American Studies. Insofar as it deals with Hispanic America , it is part of Hispanic Studies , with regard to Brazil it belongs to Lusitan Studies .
