from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Uri Gincel (* 1981 in Tel Aviv ) is an Israeli jazz musician (piano, synthesizer , composition).

Gincel studied with teachers like Arnie Lawrence and Walter Blanding . In 2009 he moved to Berlin. He belonged to Kathrin Lemke's formation Heliocentric Counterblast and worked on their album A Tribute to Sun Ra ( Enja ). Together with the Danish bass player Andreas Lang and the drummer Moritz Baumgärtner , who like Gincel was also active in the circus band Bonaparte , he founded his trio. According to Jazz thing, “the density of communication with each other” is what makes their musical explorations between jazz, neoclassical and drone so attractive . The trio's first album Free was released in 2013. He also accompanies the singer Anna Maria Sturm ( Tales of Woe , WhyPlayJazz 2014) and belongs to the orchestra of Kenneth Dahl Knudsen ( We'll Meet in the Rain , 2016) and to the current quartet of Daniel Weltlinger ( Szolnok , 2019).
