Anna Maria Sturm (born November 23, 1982 in Regensburg ) is a German theater and film actress and singer. She became known for leading roles in films by Marcus H. Rosenmüller and was seen as an investigator in the Police Call 110 episodes of the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation from 2011 to 2013 .

Life

Anna Maria Sturm grew up in Schwandorf . Her mother is the environmental activist and former member of the state parliament Irene Maria Sturm . During her school days Anna Maria noticed her acting talent in an amateur performance. After graduating from high school, she began studying pharmacy in Munich in 2002 . In 2004, after passing the entrance exam to study acting at the Otto Falckenberg School , she graduated in 2007. During her studies she performed at the Münchner Kammerspiele , to which the drama school is affiliated. In 2008 and 2009 she appeared at Theater Augsburg as a guest in Disease of Youth and Die Wildente . With the piece They shoot horses, don't they? She returned to the Münchner Kammerspiele in 2011. There followed roles and a. in Atropa. The vengeance of peace. The Fall of Troy as Helena (2011), Purgatory in Ingolstadt as Clementine (2013) and Why is Mr. R. running amok? (2014). The last two productions mentioned by the director Susanne Kennedy were invited to the Berlin Theatertreffen in 2014 and 2015 respectively .

While still a student, Anna Maria Sturm was selected for the lead role in Marcus H. Rosenmüller's Coming-of-Age home film trilogy Best Time (2007) - Best Area (2008) - Best Chance (2014). There she plays the rebellious Kati , who grows up together with her friend Jo, portrayed by Rosalie Thomass , in an Upper Bavarian village. Critics praised her for her “fresh” and “authentic” portrayal in the Bavarian dialect role. In November 2013, filming began for the conclusion of the trilogy, Best Chance , which will take the two friends to India.

Rosenmüller's film series was overseen by the TV editorial team for the game-film series of Bayerischer Rundfunk , which in 2010 also had to decide on the replacement of the Munich investigators in the crime series Polizeiruf 110 . Anna Maria Sturm was given the role of assistant on the side of the main actor Matthias Brandt . As police officer Anna Burnhauser , who came to Munich from the countryside, she should give the series a down-to-earth note. In five episodes she worked with directors Dominik Graf , Hans Steinbichler and Hendrik Handloegten , among others . Her other film work also includes a leading role in the Tatort episode Never Be Free Again by Bayerischer Rundfunk, which was awarded the Grimme Prize in 2011 . Her main role as an activist in the feature film Wackersdorf (2018) was based on the story of her own mother.

In 2014 she made her debut album as a jazz singer with the Anna Maria Sturm Quintet and saxophonist Wanja Slavin . On the trilingual record called Tales of Woe , Sturm interprets German songs, jazz standards and Serge Gainsbourg chansons.
