Vanya Slavin
Wanja Slavin (* 1982 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a German composer and saxophonist , but also plays the clarinet , flute and piano .
Act
Slavin studied saxophone with Leszek Zadlo and played with Kenny Wheeler , Médéric Collignon , John Schröder , Nick McCarthy , Rudi Mahall , Joachim Kühn , among others .
In 2006 and 2007 he performed his projects at the Munich Piano Summer. In 2009 he played with his sextet at the Moers Festival . At the BMW Welt Jazz Award 2011, Slavin came second with his formation Lotus Eaters , which brought in 5,000 euros (behind Nils Wograms Root 70). In 2015 Slavin played in a trio with Petter Eldh and Christian Lillinger . He can also be heard on recordings by Paulo Cardoso , Christian Lillinger, Gerhard Gschlößl , Christophe Schweizer , Johannes Lauer , Anna Maria Sturm , Niels Klein , Arne Huber and Fabian Arends .
In 2014 he was awarded the ECHO Jazz as instrumentalist of the year national saxophone / Woodwinds for the album Slavin-Eldh-Lillinger .
Slavin has lived in Berlin since 2005.
