Philipp Gropper

Philipp Gropper (* 1978 in West Berlin ) is a German composer and saxophonist of jazz and modern creative styles.

Live and act

Gropper studied jazz from 1999 to 2006 with Jerry Granelli , Peter Less and David Friedman at the Berlin University of the Arts . He played in the Federal Jazz Orchestra from 2000 to 2002 under the direction of Peter Herbolzheimer , where he was the first tenor saxophonist in the concert line-up.

Gropper's own formations are Hyperactive Kid with Ronny Graupe and Christian Lillinger , Philipp Gropper's Philm (founded 2011) with Elias Stemeseder , Andreas Lang and Oliver Steidle and TAU (founded 2013) with Philip Zoubek , Petter Eldh and Julian Sartorius . He is also a member of the following bands: European Movement Jazz Orchestra , FUSK , Kathrin Pechlof Sextett , Uwe Steinmetz Stream Ensemble , Tobias Backhaus 6 , Clave Azul , Chimaira and Pablo Held 's Glow .

Since 2008 he has been a member of the Berlin Jazz Collective. From August 2013 to March 2014 he received a scholarship from the Bartels Fondation in Basel.
