Carsten Daerr (born September 16, 1975 in Berlin ) is a German jazz pianist.

Live and act

Daerr had classical piano lessons from 1982 to 1995. Between 1988 and 1991 he received several first prizes in the student composing competition . From 1996 to 2002 he studied jazz piano with Kirk Nurock and Hubert Nuss and composition with James Knapp and Maria Schneider at the Berlin University of the Arts .

Since 1998 he has been working in his own band projects, including a. in the Tuomi group (with Carlos Bica and Kristiina Tuomi ), the Carsten Daerr Trio (with Oliver Potratz and Eric Schaefer ), the Marc Wyand Quartet and in a duo with the trumpeter Sven Klammer . As a sideman he has appeared with musicians such as Ed Schuller , Mack Goldsbury , Owen Howard and Bobby McFerrin . As a composer he is active in the field of new music.
