Mack Goldsbury

Mack Goldsbury (* 1946 in New Mexico ) is an American jazz musician ( tenor and soprano saxophone , also flute and clarinet ).

Goldsbury grew up in a musical family; From the age of three he learned the mandolin and at the age of six he was already playing in his father's country and western band, who also taught him the blues . At the age of sixteen he embarked on a career as a musician.

After playing with musicians like Red Garland in California , he moved to New York City in the 1970s . He went on tour with Stevie Wonder , the Temptations , Cher , Frank Sinatra and the Supremes and made music with Tony Bennett , Paul Motian , Stanley Turrentine , Bob Moses , Jack McDuff , Billy Eckstine and Pharoah Sanders, among others . He led his own bands and worked in the New York Composers' Orchestra of Wayne Horvitz and Bobby Previte as well as with Herb Robertson and Ed Schuller , with whom he formed a duo. In 1992 he moved to Berlin, where he founded combos with Ernst Bier , Andreas Böttcher and Michael Clifton. He also played with Till Brönner , Walter Norris , Jocelyn B. Smith , Baby Sommer and the Swiss Horns and the German Symphony Orchestra Berlin .

Goldsbury is documented on more than 60 CDs and has performed at numerous international jazz festivals.
