Andreas Böttcher

Andreas "Scotty" Böttcher (born April 4, 1962 in Lutherstadt Eisleben ) is a German fusion and jazz musician ( piano , synthesizer , vibraphone , also electric bass, drums, church organ and guitar; composition).

Act

From 1979 to 1984 Böttcher studied jazz piano with Günter Hörig and composition with Rainer Lischka at the Carl Maria von Weber Academy of Music in Dresden . As an autodidact he learned the vibraphone and other instruments. Between 1982 and 1987 he was a vibraphonist in the quintet of Friwi Sternberg . Since 1982 he has played with the cellist Ulrich Thiem in the chamber music project "Between Bach and Blues." From 1984 to 1989 he played as a keyboardist with the Dresden rock and pop band Syncopators (with a two-year break). He also founded the fusion band Frühlingsstrasse 15 . In 1990 his rock musical Felix was premiered by the state theaters of Saxony . He also composed for television.

Since 1992 he has devoted himself to freely improvised music in different constellations, for example in a duo with Lou Grassi , Mack Goldsbury , Andrzej Cudzich, Kazimierz Jonkisz or Thomas Friedlaender ; he also gives improvisation concerts on the church organ.

Concert tours have taken him through Germany, Poland, Switzerland and the USA. In 1990 he received a special prize at the International Improvisation Competition in Katowice.
