Fair Play Prize of German Sports

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Fair Play Prize of German Sports has been awarded since 2011, with which athletes and sports clubs are honored for special merits in terms of fair play in the course of the past year. The sponsors of the award are the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) and the Association of German Sports Journalists (VDS).

The award, which takes place every year, is intended to honor gestures, campaigns and initiatives which, according to the DOSB, "are particularly characterized by fair play". Individual prominent actions are to be honored as well as permanent engagement in local associations. The awards are intended to bring such actions to the public and thus promote fair play. The Fair Play Prize of German Sports has been awarded in the sports and special prize categories since 2013 . In earlier years, the Federal Ministry of the Interior was also the founder of the prize, which arose from the BMI Prize for Tolerance and Fair Play in Sport, which has been awarded since 1998 .
