Manuel Retzbach (triathlete)

Manuel Retzbach (* 1985 ) is a German triathlete .

Manuel Retzbach works as a technical clerk in project planning . Since 2010 he has been practicing triathlon competitively. He started for Team Tricon Schwäbisch Hall , the triathlon and cycling department of TSG Schwäbisch Hall in 1844 .

On July 8, 2018, Retzbach took part in a competition. In this case, a competitor lying in front of him fell badly while cycling . Retzbach stopped and interrupted his competition to provide first aid . He then took up the competition again and finished last with a large margin. For this he was awarded the Fair Play Prize of German Sports 2018 in the sports category in March 2019 . The jury justified the award:

"Your selfless and solidarity behavior in the face of the plight of a competitor makes you a role model for other athletes and is a shining example of fair cooperation - in sport and beyond."
