Jakob Kahn

Jakob Kahn (born January 17, 1878 in Mannheim , † November 8, 1948 in Singen ) was a German tailor, travel agent and politician.

Life

Jakob Kahn was a travel agent in Schwetzingen and party secretary in Singen. In 1908 he was a party employee of the Social Democratic Party in Schwetzingen. From 1909 to 1921 he also represented the SPD in the Second Chamber of the Baden State Assembly and in the Baden State Parliament . He became a city councilor and later SPD secretary in Singen. Kahn was of Jewish origin and took part in political actions. After 1933 he was repeatedly imprisoned, most recently on August 22, 1944 in the Gewitter action . As a “first degree half-breed” he was not affected by the deportation of the Jews from Baden in October 1940 to the Gurs internment camp .
