Bettina Greiner

Bettina Greiner (* 1968 in Hanover ) is a German historian, political scientist and Americanist. She works as a museum and memorial director. She has been heading the Willy Brandt House in Lübeck since March 2018 .

Life

Greiner was born in Hanover. From the age of 14, she attended the Schloss Plön boarding school . She spent one year of her school days in the USA. After graduating from high school, she spent a year as an au pair in Japan. She then completed an apprenticeship as a forwarding agent and worked in the profession in Frankfurt am Main.

She studied history, political science and American studies in Frankfurt, Hamburg and Bern. She received her doctorate in Bern in 2008 with the dissertation Soviet Special Camps in Germany 1945 to 1950 . She then worked for the Hamburg Institute for Social Research in Berlin. There she was involved in the organization of two series of conferences, "Berlin Colloquia on Contemporary History" and "Berlin College of Cold War". On March 1, 2018, she took over the management of the Willy Brandt House in Lübeck. There she succeeded Jürgen Lillteicher , who moved to the Allied Museum.

Bettina Greiner is married to the historian Bernd Greiner .
