Jerker Kluge

Jerker Kluge (born September 18, 1974 in Heidelberg ) is a German jazz musician ( double bass , composition, orchestral direction).

Act

Between 1999 and 2003 Kluge studied double bass at the Richard Strauss Conservatory in Munich with Paulo Cardoso (jazz) and Caius Oana (classical). In 2000 he founded his own group Hipnosis and began to occupy himself more intensively with composition (the group only plays its own compositions). Since 2002 he has also worked as the organizer of the “Jazzkombinat” concert series and as a DJ . In 2003 the debut album by Hipnosis was released , which received very good reviews; the following year he toured with the band through Germany, Austria, Slovakia and Hungary. In addition, he began to work increasingly as a composer: In 2006 he wrote the film music for “Apartment 6”, in the same year he performed his suite “Das Apokalyptische Weib” in Munich's Michaelskirche with the Cosmic Groove Orchestra . He plays soul jazz with his Hi-Fly Orchestra and explores modal jazz with deep jazz . He also runs the tribute group Mingus in Wonderland .

Prizes and awards

In 2002 Kluge was a prizewinner at the state competition Jugend jazzt with the group "Fishcat"; with the band “Die Firma Happy Madness” he won the 2002 international jazz competition for young talent .
