action

Georg Kammler is found dead on his farm, which he runs together with his sister Ursula. Since Kammler had already been noticed because of suspected white-collar crime, Detective Inspector Hattinger suspects that this is the motive for the crime and that the perpetrator could therefore be found among Kammler's business partners. Immediately before his death, Kammler had phoned Benjamin Staller and Harald Strenger one after the other. Staller is the ex-boyfriend of his sister Ursula, from whom she separated because she couldn't cope with his personality disorder. Staller has had this disorder since an accident two years ago in which his younger brother was killed and he was seriously injured himself. The other interlocutor, Harald Strenger, has the strongest motive in Hattinger's eyes, as he had been betrayed by Kammler. Since Strenger did not have an alibi, he was taken into custody. But bank director Wachler's behavior is also extremely noticeable. According to Hattinger's research, Wachler passed on information about insolvent bank customers to Kammler, whereupon the latter bought their properties from the customers and took advantage of them in the process. After comparing the usable DNA traces at the scene of the crime, however, neither Strictly nor Wachler are considered as perpetrators.

Since Ursula Kammler cannot stand alone on the farm, she temporarily moves to Benjamin Staller and his mother on their farm. A short time later she is found murdered here, whereupon Staller is immediately arrested. He admits straight out that he strangled Ursula because she found out that it was him who killed her brother. According to Staller, Kammler was to blame for the accident in which his brother had lost his life.

After the case appears to be resolved, Hattinger receives a cry for help from Sarah Beck. She was an accountant at Kammler, and Hattinger had become friends with her in the course of the investigation. She is threatened by Wachler and her life is in danger, she lets the inspector know. Hattinger immediately rushes to the specified location and sees through the window pane how Wachler apparently threatens Sarah Beck with a knife. Little does the inspector suspect that Sarah Beck arranged everything in such a way that Hattinger can't help but shoot at Wachler.

When examining Staller's assignment of guilt to Kammler, Hattinger finds out that Kammler is out of the question because he was not in Germany at the time of the accident, but at a conference with Sarah Beck. When the Commissioner von Staller had to hear that this woman had convinced him that Kammler was the cause of the accident, he realized that Beck had driven Stammler to the murder in this way. And he was also used by her to get Wachler out of the way. But he can't prove anything to her because she put her plan together extremely cleverly. Sarah Beck was not only after Kammler's stolen money; the origin of their actions springs from a campaign of revenge. She had lost her parents' house to Kammler's windy business, and she believed that Kammler was partly to blame for her sister's death.

criticism

Tilmann P. Gangloff from Tittelbach.tv gave 3.5 out of 6 possible stars and wrote: “The second 'Chiemseekrimi' with Michael Fitz is worth seeing, but does not keep what the first one ('Hattinger and the cold hand') promised . Viviane Andereggen's staging ranks in comparison to the atmospheric dense TV premiere of the investigator at the usual ZDF crime thriller level. The craft is solid but inconspicuous. 'Hattinger and the Fog' is therefore particularly recommended because of the leadership and the last act, which is cleverly threaded with its surprising twists (but leaves questions unanswered). "

The critics of the TV magazine TV Spielfilm gave the film one of three possible points for humor, ambition and tension and only a middle rating (thumbs straight) and wrote: After the famous 'Hattinger and the cold hand' of 2013, this story is something told too transparently. Conclusion: "Great line-up, great ideas, weak case."

At the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung , Heike Hupertz rated: "The second 'Chiemseekrimi', in which there is little lake and even less fog, except in the head of the inspector floating on cloud nine" is unfortunately only "perpetuated dozen items." [...] " The end looks as if important scenes have fallen victim to the cut. "

Joachim Huber from the Tagesspiegel stated: "'Hattinger and the Fog' is a weak crime thriller and a very convincing human film on ZDF." [...] "The new crime thriller takes relationships and relationships as its theme." [...] "This Inability to be a happy couple is exemplified in further constellations in the 90 minutes, which already works like an ABC of unhappiness alone, as a couple, in the family and beyond. ”The film conveys“ a deep understanding of the people and murderers for whom Fraudsters and deceived, for the haters and love seekers at Chiemsee.
