Hans Steinbichler

Hans Sebastian Steinbichler (born November 1, 1966 in Solothurn ) is a German director and screenwriter .

Life

Hans Steinbichler grew up in Kothöd in the Upper Bavarian Chiemgau. He graduated from the Ludwig-Thoma-Gymnasium in Prien am Chiemsee . After abandoning his law studies in Passau , he began studying at the University of Television and Film Munich in 1995 , which he completed in 2003.

In 2003, Steinbichler won the German Film Promotion Prize and the Gold Grimme Prize for screenplay and direction with his feature film debut Hierankl (he also wrote the screenplay for it ) . The leading actress Johanna Wokalek won the Bavarian Film Prize for the film .

His film Winterreise was nominated several times for the German Film Prize in 2007, which the leading actor Josef Bierbichler won in the “Best Actor” category. For his film The Second Woman (2007) he was awarded the Grimme Prize.

Autistic Disco was nominated for the German Film Award in 2007at the Munich Film Festival in the script ( Melanie Rohde ) and acting ( Nina Mohr , Samia Chancrin and Ulrich Rechenbach ) categories. Steinbichler contributed the Fraktur sectionto the episode film Deutschland 09 about the situation in Germany in autumn 2008. In 2011 Steinbichler wasawarded the Bavarian Film Prizefor his melodrama Das Blaue vom Himmel .

From January 2013 to December 2014 he taught as a professor for directing for cinema, television and new media at the ifs international film school in Cologne .

In 2015 he directed the Diary of Anne Frank , a remake of the life story of the Jewish Holocaust victim that was released in March 2016. For this he received the German Director Prize Metropolis in 2016 .
