An Unheard of Woman is a German fiction film by Hans Steinbichler from 2016 with Rosalie Thomass and Romy Butz in the leading roles. It was released in German cinemas on October 6, 2016.

action

The film tells the story of the seriously ill Magdalena Schwaiger and her mother Hanni. Desperately looking for an understanding doctor to rescue Magdalena, who is suffering from severe headaches and other symptoms. For years nobody wanted to believe that Magdalena was seriously ill until Hanni took matters into her own hands. It is finally discovered that a brain tumor is the cause of the girl's suffering. Now she even travels to the USA to ask a specialist for an operation for her daughter. This doctor agrees to perform the operation in Germany, and Magdalena survives the operation - contrary to the prognosis - well.

Schwaiger is suing the hospital, which did not diagnose the tumor. In a comparison, she receives roughly the costs she has incurred.

At the same time, the story of the young Hanni Schwaiger, who had already been through a court hearing about serious abuse of her as a teenager, is running.

background

The true story of Angelika Nachtmann and her daughter Katharina served as a template for the film. At the request of the film producer Nils Dünker, Angelika Nachtmann wrote a book about her memories, which was published shortly after the film premiere in 2016 under the title Not heard - almost destroyed by Scholastika Verlag ( ISBN 978-3-9817395-4-1 ).
