The Club Sportowy Rosa Radom (spelling in capital letters : KS ROSA Radom ) is a professional basketball club from the city of the same name in Radom in Poland . After losing the final in the 2015 League Cup competition, the club won this competition in 2016, but lost the play-off finals for the championship.

history

The team was founded in 1993 in the club MKS Piotrówka Radom set when Ro is Sa czywko 2003 with his construction company ROSA-BUD as title sponsor got in. From 2007, the structures began to be further professionalized when the former international professional Piotr Ignatowicz took over the position of responsible coach from later managing director Robert Bartkiewicz, one of the initiators of the club's founding in 1993. The team also parted ways with the original club and only competed under the name RosaSport Radom . In 2010, the championship finally succeeded in the third highest division II league and the promotion to the second highest division I league , in which they reached the play-off final series in 2012 under coach Mariusz Karol, but which was lost to Start Gdynia. Nevertheless, ROSA Radom was allowed to move up to the top division Polska Liga Koszykówki for the following season 2012/13 , in which, after a coach change at the end of the year, when Wojciech Kamiński became the new head coach, the season ended in third from bottom place in the table in 2013.

In the following seasons things continued to improve, when they played in the top half of the table in the 2013/14 season and in fifth place reached the play-offs of the best eight teams for the Polish championship for the first time . After you could defeat the fourth Anwil Włocławek , you remained in the semi-final series against the main round first and later title winner Turów Zgorzelec without a win. In the following season, the team reached the final of the League Cup, which was lost to previous runner-up Stelmet Zielona Góra . As the sixth in the main round, the team defeated the third AZS Koszalin without defeat in the play-off quarter-finals , but remained in the semifinals against the eventual title winner Zielona Góra without their own victory. In the FIBA Europe Cup 2015/16 , the club competed in a continental club competition for the first time and immediately reached the second round of the best 16 teams in this competition. In this round, in which they lost twice to the eventual German title winner Fraport Skyliners , it was enough in six games to only win over the Södertälje Kings . In the Polish League Cup 2016, however, they won the final against champion and defending champion Stelmet Zielona Góra with 74:64 and were able to secure their first title win. Then the team moved in second place in the main round for the first time in the final series of the Polish championship, in which they did not win against the defending champions in four games. At the beginning of the following 2016/17 season, they won the season opener in the Polish Super Cup against the champions, against whom they had lost just one point in the same competition a year earlier. In addition, the Polish runner-up will start in the new international club competition Basketball Champions League 2016/17 .
