CWKS Legia Warsaw

CWKS Legia Warsaw (Polish: CWKS Legia Warszawa , completely Centralny Wojskowy Klub Sportowy Legia Warszawa ) is a Polish competitive and popular sports club from Warsaw . The club was founded in 1916 and gained particular fame in Polish sports as a state army club after the Second World War .

Soccer

volleyball

The volleyball department was founded in 1947 and is one of the most successful in Poland. In the 2009/10 season, however, the first team played in the third-class 2nd division. The division won the Polish championship eight times and was Polish cup winner five times.

ice Hockey

The ice hockey department was one of the most successful in Poland until the end of the 1960s, and is still runner-up with 13 titles. The team has been playing in the second-class I league since the 2011/12 season .

rugby

A rugby department has existed again since 2012 . The first team plays in the second-class first division in the 2015/16 season; see also rugby in Poland .

basketball

The basketball department won the Polish championship seven times, most recently in 1969, and the Polish Cup four times.

Cycling

The cycling department was founded. The team has had a UCI license as a Continental Team since 2005 and thus participates in the UCI Continental Circuits. Due to co-sponsors, the team also ran under the name Legia-Bazyliszek or Legia-TV4 .
