Talais is a French municipality with 741 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the Gironde department in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine .
geography
Talais is located in the north of the Médoc peninsula between the Atlantic Ocean and the Gironde estuary of the Garonne and Dordogne rivers . The distance to the south-east of Bordeaux is almost 90 kilometers. The beaches on the Atlantic are about five kilometers away and the banks of the Gironde are about three kilometers away.
Neighboring communities are Soulac-sur-Mer in the north-west, Saint-Vivien-de-Médoc in the south-east and Grayan-et-l'Hôpital in the south-west. In the northeast, the municipality borders on the Gironde.

Economy and Transport
Talais is a rural community where livestock and agriculture are the predominant industries. In addition, there is fishing and oyster farming , and rural tourism is also of some importance.
To the west of the village runs the D 1215 departmental road and the Bordeaux - Le Verdon-sur-Mer line, line 33 of the TER Aquitaine railway company , without stopping at Talais; the nearest train station is in Soulac-sur-Mer. A few kilometers to the northwest is the Soulac airfield.
