Naujac-sur-Mer is a municipality with 1090 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) on the French Atlantic coast in the Gironde department in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine .
geography
Naujac-sur-Mer is located in a large pine forest on the Atlantic Ocean north of Lac de Hourtin et de Carcans (Lake Hourtin - Carcans ). The municipality is eight kilometers northwest of Hourtin and 58 kilometers northwest of Bordeaux . While the center is about 10 kilometers inland, the Le Pin Sec campsite is only about 2 kilometers from the hamlet of Saint-Isidore , directly on the beach.

The international chess tournament Open International d'Échecs des Vins du Médoc is organized annually by the chess club L'Échiquier Naujacais and takes place in Naujac-sur-Mer.
economy
Important branches of the Naujacais are forestry , beekeeping and the rearing of game .
The former Le Flamand sawmill is located in Saint-Isidore and was attached to a natural resin distillery until 1967 . It was built in 1863. 6000 hectares of forest were available to the sawmill. In 1914, 1938 and 1949 apartments were built for the workers and the workshop was enlarged. In 1940 it was connected to the power grid and modernized in 1954. In 1956, 1960 and 1970 the company expanded. Parquet flooring , wall paneling and glued laminated timber were now also manufactured. A steam engine powered the plant until 1940. In 1990 the plant still had 103 employees.
