Salaunes is a French commune in the department of Gironde in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine with 1,066 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Lesparre-Médoc and the canton of Le Sud-Médoc (until 2015: canton of Castelnau-de-Médoc ).
geography
Salaunes is located about 22 kilometers northwest of Bordeaux in the Médoc . Salaunes is surrounded by the neighboring communities Castelnau-de-Médoc in the north, Avensan in the northeast, Saint-Aubin-de-Médoc in the east, Saint-Médard-en-Jalles in the south and southeast, Le Temple in the southwest and Sainte-Hélène in the west and northwest.
The former route nationale 215 (today's D1215) runs through the municipality .
