geography
Le Porge is located about 40 kilometers west-northwest of Bordeaux in the Médoc on the Atlantic coast (the so-called Silver Coast ). Le Porge itself is 11 km from the Aquitaine Atlantic coast. Le Porge is surrounded by the neighboring communities Lacanau in the north, Saumos in the northeast, Le Temple in the east, Arès in the south and southeast and Lège-Cap-Ferret in the south. The Via Turonensis , a variant of the Camino de Santiago , runs through the municipality .
Le Porge Océan
Le Porge Océan is located directly on the Atlantic coast and can only be approached from Le Porge, 11 km inland, via a spur road leading to the coast. It is the closest free access to the Atlantic Ocean for the residents of Bordeaux and therefore has two long car parking loops for day-trippers that lie behind the dunes under the pine forest and stretch along the coast to the north and south. Simply designed tables and benches for picnics are permanently installed under the trees. The southern end of the southern parking loop is unofficially signposted as "Carrefour Kriegsmarine" as a reminder that the area was occupied by Nazi Germany until 1944. A tar bike path stretching along the Silver Coast crosses Le Porge Océan. To the north it leads first to Lacanau Océan and ultimately to the Point de Grave , to the south to the southern tip of Cap Ferret .
Some footpaths lead from the park loops over the dunes to the beach. There are several seasonal restaurants and cafes along one of these footpaths. There is also a large, but loosely occupied campsite for tents, caravans and mobile homes and with some mobile homes . Various companies offer surf courses or hire surf equipment. On the other hand, there are no permanent housing developments or hotels in Le Porge Océan.
La Jenny
La Jenny is the name of a large, self-contained holiday complex in the municipality of Le Porge. It is located directly on the Atlantic coast about 5 km south of Le Porge Océan. It is a naturist village dedicated to naturism.
