Lamarque ( Occitan La Marca ) is a French commune in the department of Gironde in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016: Aquitaine ) with 1,308 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Lesparre-Médoc and the canton of Le Sud-Médoc (until 2015: canton of Castelnau-de-Médoc ).
geography
Lamarque is located about 30 kilometers north-northwest of Bordeaux on the Gironde estuary . Lamarque is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Cussac-Fort-Médoc in the north, Plassac in the east on the opposite side of the estuary, Arcins in the south, Moulis-en-Médoc in the southwest and Listrac-Médoc in the west.
The municipality belongs to the Haut-Médoc wine-growing region .
