Danny Gibson (born January 28, 1984 in Madison , Indiana ) is an American basketball player who is also a Cameroonian  . After studying in his home country, Gibson became a professional in Europe and initially played in the German 2nd basketball league . He then played in the German top flight basketball league one season for Giants Nördlingen and just two seasons for the BBC Bayreuth in addition to a commitment in the Netherlands Dutch Basketball League . Further stations in European leagues followed.

Career

After attending high school in Madison, Gibson went across the Indiana border to Olney Central Community College in Olney, Illinois in 2002 . After two seasons for the Blue Knights of the "Junior College" in the National Junior Collegiate Athletic Association , he returned to Indiana and continued his studies in 2004 at the University of Southern Indiana . He played basketball in high school team Eagles in the NCAA Division II.

After completing his studies in 2006, Gibson became a professional and got a contract with the NVV Lions from Mönchengladbach in the 2nd Basketball Bundesliga Group North. In the 2nd basketball league 2006/07 the Lions achieved a midfield placement, but then decided not to participate in the new ProA and ProB divisions , which replaced the second division. Gibson moved to the previous league competitor BasCats from Cuxhaven , who reached a promotion place for the basketball Bundesliga as a runner-up in the higher-ranking ProA 2007/08 . For economic and infrastructural reasons, however, the Cuxhaveners had not applied for a license for the top division and could therefore not take advantage of the promotion. Together with his teammate Monta McGhee from Cuxhaven , Gibson moved to the same point ProA champion Giants Nördlingen, who exercised their right of promotion. In the National Basketball League 2008/09 it was something of a surprise in the league against the more established associations LTi Giessen 46ers and Eisbaren Bremerhaven reach. For economic reasons, however , the Nördlinger refrained from further participation in the basketball league and withdrew to the ProA.

In 2009, after the first division withdrawal of the Nördlinger, Gibson moved again with his teammate McGhee to the basketball club in Leiden, the Netherlands . In the 2009/10 season they lost in the semi-final series of the championship play-offs in five games against the eventual champions GasTerra Flames from Groningen. Gibson was top scorer in the Dutch Basketball League and MVP of the 2009/10 season with a good 18 points per game and then changed clubs again, parting ways with McGhee, who became Dutch champions with ZZ Leiden in 2011. Former Nördlinger trainer Andreas Wagner brought Gibson back to the German basketball league, into which he was promoted as ProA champion with the BBC Bayreuth. In the 2010/11 basketball Bundesliga , the Bayreuth team just managed to stay in league. Gibson did not get a new contract for the new season, but was signed up for three months after an injury to Kevin Hamilton . After a poor recovery at Hamilton, Gibson's contract was extended in December 2011 despite a change of coach. Despite a miserable start to the season, the Bayreuth team safely managed to stay in league after the change of coach at the end of the 2011/12 basketball Bundesliga . For the following season Gibson's contract was not extended and this moved to the first Greek league A1 Ethniki to Ikaros from Kallithea . For the first time after the merger with Esperos 2010 they reached the play-offs for the championship in seventh place, in which, however, they were eliminated in the first round against the eventual title winner Panathinaikos Athens .

Between 2013 and 2016 Gibson was under contract with three different representatives of the first Polish league, in the 2015/16 season he was named the best foreigner in the league by the internet service eurobasket.com , after averaging 17.2 for the Polski Cukier Toruń club Points and 5.9 assists per match.

In the 2016/17 season he won the Bulgarian championship with Lukoil Academic Sofia and also competed in the FIBA Europe Cup with Sofia . In the European club competition he was the best scorer of his team with an average of 16.8 points per game. His 5.4 basket assists per encounter were also the highest value within the troop.

During the summer break of 2017, Gibson signed a contract with the French first division club Limoges CSP .
