Kevin Bernard Hamilton, Jr. (Born May 2, 1984 in Queens Village , New York City ) is an American basketball player . After studying in his home country, Hamilton turned pro and played in Poland and Germany in particular . Most recently he played for Medi bayreuth in Germany from 2011 to 2014 .

Hamilton's father Kevin sr. was the 92nd pick in the 1980 NBA draft by the Boston Celtics , whose career as a player without commitment for the Celtics ended at a young age due to a serious elbow injury. He then worked as a trainer at college and at Holy Cross High School in Queens. Kevin Jr., whose mother Netty is from Puerto Rico , went to school at Archbishop Molloy High School, where he was trained by coach Jack Curran, who had already trained several players who later made the jump into the NBA . To study he went to the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester (Massachusetts) . There he was active for the college team Crusaders in the Patriot League of the NCAA Division I, whose most famous player is the Basketball Hall of Fame member Bob Cousy . Hamilton tops the Crusaders' leaderboard in transformed three-point throws and ball wins .

After completing his studies, Hamilton signed a professional contract in 2006 in the Polish Schwetz and played for Polpak in the first Polish division PLK . After an injury, he first returned to his home country and then played in the Baloncesto Superior Nacional in his mother's country of birth . In early December 2007 he tried in the French second division Pro B at Basket Comté Doubs from Besançon to gain a foothold again in Europe, but after two games his trial contract was terminated so that he only played professionally in Puerto Rico the following summer. In 2008, the German coach Sebastian Machowski , who still knew him as an opponent in Poland, brought him back to the Polish league, where Hamilton was able to achieve the most assists and ball wins per game in the 2008/09 season and the Polish one with the Kotwica club from Kolberg Cup won.

In 2009 Machowski also ensured Hamilton's commitment by the New York Phantoms from Braunschweig in the German BBL, to which Machowski had switched for the 2009/10 BBL season . In that season, the club managed to qualify for the play-offs for the German championship for the first time in seven years , in which they defeated the defending champion and main round first EWE Baskets Oldenburg in the first round . After losing in the semifinals against the eventual champions Brose Baskets from Bamberg , the following season reached the final of the German Cup , which was also lost to defending champion Brose Baskets. In the play-offs of the BBL season 2010/11 , they were eliminated in the first round this time, although they had improved to fifth place after the main round. For the 2011/12 season, Hamilton has signed a contract with league competitor BBC Bayreuth , so that Machowski and Hamilton parted ways for the time being. For the 2012/2013 season, Hamilton extended his contract in Bayreuth by two years until 2014.

For the 2014/2015 season, Hamilton did not receive a new follow-up contract in Bayreuth. He then played over the summer as in previous years for the Indios de Mayagüez in Puerto Rico.
