Madison is a city in Jefferson County in the US state of Indiana . It was founded on April 1, 1809 and is now the county seat of the county.

Historical objects
- Madison is home to the Madison Historic District . The district comprises 1,666 buildings and was listed on May 25, 1973 on the National Register of Historic Places as a Historic Monument with the number 73000020. It is also listed on the National Historic Landmark .
- There are a few prominent buildings in the Madison Historic District . These include the Charles L. Shrewsbury House (also known as Shrewsbury-Windle House ). The house was built in the mid-19th century and was listed on April 19, 1994 by the National Register of Historic Places and the National Historic Landmark as a historic monument with the number 94001190.

Madison has a boat racing tradition that dates back to 1911. Today, the town is also known for the Madison Regatta , a hydroplane - Regatta , each around the weekend of Independence Day on the Ohio River takes place. In 2001 a film with Jim Caviezel was made in Madison about this boat race.
The Milton-Madison Bridge connects the place with Milton.
