Bavarian film award
The Bavarian Film Prize has been awarded annually by the Bavarian State Government for outstanding achievements in German filmmaking since 1980 . After the German Film Prize , it is the most highly endowed award for cinema films in Germany. The award ceremony takes place as part of a gala in the Munich Prinzregententheater (since 2005) or the Cuvilliés Theater (before and in 2009) at the beginning of the year for the previous year. It is produced by Bayerischer Rundfunk and broadcast live on Bavarian television .
Selection process
An eleven-person jury is appointed by the Bavarian State Chancellery for three years. This independent jury makes recommendations for the prizes based on artistic quality. In addition to the jury, the transnational associations and institutions of German film (including the Filmförderungsanstalt , Kuratorium Junge deutscher Film , German Film and Media Assessment (FBW) ) and the FilmFernsehFonds Bayern can submit proposals. The Bavarian Prime Minister decides on the award of the recommended awards.
The jury members should come from the fields of acting, directing, screenplay, image design, film criticism, film dramaturgy, film theater and university. The chairman of the jury is the head of the film department of the Bavarian State Government. Members of the jury are (as of 2011): Isolde Barth (actress), Bettina Reitz (producer, managing director Degeto Film ), Susanne Petz (producer), Benedict Neuenfels (cameraman), Manfred Heid (producer), Steffen Kuchenreuther ( SPIO president ), Adrian Prechtel (journalist), Wolfgang Limmer (screenwriter, director), Klaus Schaefer (managing director of the FilmFernsehFonds Bayern), Hans Steinbichler (director) and Carolin Kerschbaumer (film advisor Bavarian State Chancellery).
The five most popular German films are available for voting on the audience award, which has been awarded annually since 2001. The TV film magazine Kino Kino (Bayerisches Fernsehen) and the radio station Bayern 3 are mainly calling for participation . The vote will take place in December. In 2005, the television station Kabel 1 and the film magazine TV Spielfilm identified the audience award winner ( Hitch - The Date Doctor ) from the list of the (international) top 20 in Germany.
Doping
The award has been endowed with around 300,000 euros from government funds since 2004. The producer price has the largest share with 200,000 euros. This price can be split halfway between two films. The prize money must be used to produce a new movie. The creative minds received prizes of 5,000 or 10,000 euros at the 2010 Film Prize, in previous years up to 25,000 euros. The honorary award is undoped. The price symbol is the porcelain figure Pierrot from the Commedia dell'arte by Franz Anton Bustelli , created in the porcelain manufactory Nymphenburg .
As part of the Bavarian Film Prize, the prize of the collecting society for rights of use to film works (VGF) has been awarded to a young producer every year since 1994 . This prize is endowed with 60,000 euros, which is awarded in addition to the state prize money.
Award winners
The prizes are awarded for the best performances of the cinema year and presented in January of the following year. For example, the Bavarian Film Awards 2010 were presented in January 2011. The following years represent the years assessed.
