Life

Król was born in Herne, North Rhine-Westphalia, the son of a miner with Polish ancestors. From 1981 to 1984 he studied acting at the Otto Falckenberg School in Munich. He is best known as a film and television actor. Despite his television and cinema success, Król keeps returning to the stage. He played several times at the Schlosstheater Moers , Bochumer Schauspielhaus and the Schauspielhaus Köln .

Król first attracted national attention in 1993 for his role as Kipp in Wir kann auch anders… The moving man became an audience success in 1994 (directed by Sönke Wortmann ). In It happened in broad daylight from Nico Hofmann , he took on a role that was believed to be inextricably linked with the name of Heinz Rühmann (see It happened in broad daylight ). His appearance in the elegant, quirky Migratory Bird was praised ... Once to Inari under the direction of Peter Lichtefeld . He also worked with Doris Dörrie , Hans W. Geißendörfer , Helmut Dietl , Wim Wenders and Tom Tykwer . Since Donna Leon and Lutter at the latest, he has been a TV celebrity in Germany and with his rather reserved portrayal and calm demeanor has become “an indispensable part of the German cinema landscape” ( Prisma ).

In December 2009 the Hessischer Rundfunk announced that Król would be the new investigator for the Frankfurt crime scene . In this context, Król ended his engagement with ZDF in the crime series about the Essen investigator Lutter . Starting with the A Better World case in May 2011, a total of five crime scenes were broadcast with Król as Chief Inspector Frank Steier alongside Nina Kunzendorf as Chief Inspector Conny Mey. After Kunzendorf's exit, another crime scene was initially set up with the detective inspector candidate Linda Dräger ( Alwara Höfels ) at Król's side; Margarita Broich was hired as a permanent partner for future episodes . In May 2013, however, Król announced that after his seventh case, which arose without Broich, he would also get out of line.

Joachim Król was one of the founding members of the German Film Academy in 2003 .

He is married and has a son.

Joachim Król is a football fan and regularly accompanied his father to games of the Westfalia Herne club , where Sönke Wortmann also played. Król is an avowed fan of Borussia Dortmund .
