German television award 2020

The awarding of the German Television Prize 2020 was originally supposed to take place on June 6, 2020 after six years in Cologne's Coloneum , and the gala was to be broadcast live as a big “Saturday evening show” on television. RTL would have been in charge of the hosting . The event has been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic .

A jury chaired by producer Wolf Bauer will still decide on nominees and award winners . The nominations were published on June 4th. The award winners were announced on June 17, 2020.

All television productions of German origin or with significant creative and economic involvement by German clients that were published between January 1, 2019 and April 30, 2020 are eligible for this year's award.

Honorary award of the donors

With the honorary award, the donors of the German Television Prize usually honor a person for their services in film and television. In 2020 it was not awarded. Instead, the jury of the German TV Prize decided to award a special “Best Information” prize for Corona reporting.

Sponsorship / young talent award

The advancement award for young talent, endowed with 15,000 euros, was awarded to the science journalist Mai Thi Nguyen-Kim .
