German television award 2009
The eleventh award of the German Television Prize , moderated by Anke Engelke and Bastian Pastewka (in the role of the folk music duo Wolfgang & Anneliese ), took place on September 26, 2009 in Cologne's Coloneum and was broadcast on Sat.1 on the same evening as scheduled . In 2009, 57 productions or people competed for the award in 19 competition categories. The nominations were announced on September 2nd.
Compared to the previous year, the categories Best Reality Broadcast , Best Moderation Information , Best Moderation Entertainment and Free Category: Best Visual Effects were omitted . The category Best Multipart was added . The number of nominees per category has been standardized to three.
jury
In 2009, Bettina Böttinger (producer Encanto ) chaired the nine-member jury . Further members of the jury were Dieterschlag (editor-in-chief Funkkorrespondenz ), Lutz Carstens (editor-in-chief TV Spielfilm ), Miriam Meckel (communication scientist) and Klaudia Wick (journalist and author), who were already on the selection committee for the German Television Award in 2008. Last year the jury did not include this year's jury members Tim Bergmann (actor), Christian von Castelberg (director), Christoph Keese (Group Managing Director "Public Affairs" Axel Springer AG ) and Beatrice Kramm (producer and managing director Polyphon Film ).

Some productions have received multiple nominations. We are the people before Half a Life and Mogadishu with four nominations each were named with six nominations.
As the broadcaster with 22 nominations, the ARD was clearly mentioned most , with 15 mentions the ZDF came second. As the third most frequently named broadcaster, RTL received six nominations. Overall, the ratio of public broadcasters to private broadcasters is 40 to 13 nominations.
ZDF won in nine categories, ARD in seven. Sat.1 was awarded in three categories, RTL in two. For some of the award winners, several productions on different broadcasters were considered.
The most successful productions at the German Television Prize 2009 were Wir sind das Volk and Die Wölfe , each with three awards. Half a life won in two categories.
