Axel Theodor Klaus Milberg (born August 1, 1956 in Kiel ) is a German actor and author . He is best known as the crime scene commissioner Klaus Borowski .

family

Milberg is the son of a doctor and a lawyer from Kiel . After graduating from high school , he studied philosophy , literature and theater studies from 1975 to 1979 . He then completed an acting training from 1979 to 1981 at the Otto Falckenberg School in Munich .

Milberg has lived with the art historian, designer and painter Judith Milberg (* 1962), the daughter of the archaeometrist Dietrich Klemm and the Egyptologist Rosemarie Klemm , since 1992 . They married at the end of 2004 and have a son. Judith Milberg brought two children into the new marriage. He lives with his family in Munich . Axel and Judith Milberg are supporters and ambassadors of the South African children's aid project Umckaloabo Foundation .

Artistic career

In 1981 Milberg was engaged by the artistic director Dieter Dorn at the Münchner Kammerspiele . He remained a permanent member of the ensemble until 1998 and stood u. a. in Faust by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe , in Nathan the Wise by Gotthold Ephraim Lessing and in Woyzeck by Georg Büchner on the stage. He made a special impression as a bizarre opponent of Heinz Bennent in the play Visitors (1988) by Botho Strauss .

Movie and TV

In addition to his theater engagement, Milberg played in various television series and series such as Café Perjury by Franz Xaver Bogner , Der Schattenmann by Dieter Wedel or The Happy Family from the late 1980s .

He got one of his first big cinema roles in 1995 with the leading role in the comedy Nach Fünf im Urwald by Hans-Christian Schmid , where he played the father of a 17-year-old runaway ( Franka Potente ). In 1996, Milberg took on the role of the child murderer Schrott in the remake of Es happened am hellicht Tag , a drama based on Friedrich Dürrenmatt , which was originally cast by Gert Fröbe from 1958 . The two-part film, directed by Nico Hofmann , was broadcast on Sat.1 . In 2000, Axel Milberg appeared in Margarethe von Trotta 's four-part television series Anniversaries .

In 2002, Milberg impersonated the headstrong chief inspector Klaus Borowski for the first time in the PSI episode of a new edition of the crime series Stahlnetz , set in Hanover. In 2003, after Stahlnetz stopped working , Borowski was transferred to Kiel and the crime scene . Since then, Milberg has been investigating as a television commissioner in his hometown twice a year. He was supported in the first six episodes by Mehdi Moinzadeh as his assistant. From 2010 to 2017 Sibel Kekilli was at his side as a police commissioner candidate Sarah Brandt. The Swedish bestselling author Henning Mankell wrote the templates for the episodes Borowski and the fourth man , broadcast on September 26, 2010 on ARD, and Borowski and the cool dog , broadcast on November 6, 2011. In previous years, Milberg was as Dr . Reinhart in Tatort , episode 398, and in two other Tatort episodes with a guest role.

From 2007 to 2009, Milberg played the title character of the series Doktor Martin in 14 episodes on ZDF , a cranky doctor with a blood phobia who moved from Berlin to the provinces of East Frisia. For this role, Milberg was awarded the Bavarian Television Prize as best actor in the "Series" category.

Since 2010, Milberg and his wife have appeared in the cultural series of Bayerischer Rundfunk Mit Milbergs in the museum . In it, Judith Milberg presents her unprepared husband with a certain painting, first analyzes it and then opens a dialogue with him in which he spontaneously shares his associations with her. By using a steadycam camera, the programs are also given mobility on a formal level.

In 2012 Milberg played with Iris Berben , Nina Kunzendorf and Peter Simonischek in the ZDF film Liebesjahre by Matti Geschonneck . For this role he received the Grimme Prize in the “Fiction” category together with the film ensemble, the director and the screenwriter . The film was also awarded the Golden Camera in the “Best TV Film” category.

In the movie Hannah Arendt by Margarethe von Trotta Milberg Heinrich Blücher embodied, the husband of journalist Hannah Arendt , played by Barbara Sukowa . The film celebrated its world premiere on September 11, 2012 at the 37th Toronto International Film Festival and was awarded the German Film Prize in silver in 2013 in the “Best Feature Film” category.

As part of the Bundschuh family television series , Milberg has been the protagonist in the film adaptations of Sawatzki's novels about Gundula and Gerald Bundschuh since 2015, alongside Andrea Sawatzki , who plays his film wife . Other permanent roles include Uwe Ochsenknecht , Judy Winter , Stephan Grossmann and Eva Löbau .

Speaker activity

Axel Milberg recorded numerous radio plays and audio books as a narrator , including several novels by the Swedish bestselling author Henning Mankell . For the Mankell audio book Der Chinese , Milberg was awarded the 2008 Corine literature prize in the “Claudio Audio Book Prize” category. Milberg has been the narrator in the radio play series Die Drei ??? since 2017 . For the 1000th episode of the NDR comedy series " Wir sind die Freeses " broadcast on March 29, 2019 , Axel Milberg took on a short speaking role in which he played himself.

Novelist

His first novel, Düsternbrook , was published on May 2, 2019 . Milberg addresses his youth in the eponymous Kiel district of Düsternbrook , where he lived for the first twenty years. Milberg emphasizes that it is by no means a book about private memories, but rather a book about experiences that are symptomatic of his generation and that tell about the 1960s and 70s in the Federal Republic of Germany.
