Patrícia Melo (born October 2, 1962 in Assis (São Paulo) ) is a Brazilian writer mainly of crime novels .

Life

Melo published her first detective novel in 1994. In 2001 she was awarded the most important Brazilian literary prize, the Prêmio Jabuti de Literatura , for her fourth novel, Inferno , and in 1998 the German Crime Prize for O Matador . Since 1998 she has also been writing scripts for film and television. Her novels, several of which have been translated into German, are socially critical stories about crime and violence in metropolitan Brazil

Patrícia Melo has been married to the conductor John Neschling since 2012 .
