Margarete von Montfort († 1556 ) was an abbess of the free worldly Buchau women's monastery in what is now Bad Buchau am Federsee .

Life

Margarete was the daughter of Hugo von Montfort and Anna Countess von Zweibrücken. Her sister Sybille was from 1534 to 1551 princess of the women's monastery in Essen . Both declared on July 21, 1523 their renunciation of the inheritance.

On August 12, 1540, she was elected abbess of the monastery. In May of the following year, she asked her brother to defer the confirmation fees he had asked for. She is continuously attested in the documents of the monastery up to the year of her death in 1556.
