The lightship is a film adaptation by NDR of the story of the same name by the German writer Siegfried Lenz from 2008.
action
First a member of the crew dies, later one of the gangsters.
The film ends with the captain giving a hidden hint to the shore station during one of the daily radio reports about the weather in order to request the water police . The crew is forced by the gangsters to raise the anchor to go ashore with the lightship. When the anchor was caught, the captain faces the gangsters again, whereupon he is shot by a gangster. At that moment, the crew overwhelms both gangsters. Captain Johann Freytag dies as a result of the gunshot wound in the arms of his son Fred.
Filming
The shooting took place from July 20, 2007 to August 18, 2007 in Emden and Hamburg . The film was shot in 23 days. The team played in a confined space on board the former lightship " Borkumriff IV " in the middle of the North Sea off Emden. On two days the crew could not go on board because of the storm. Several scenes were created under great time pressure because of the constant alternation of ebb and flow . The script was written by Lothar Kurzawa and directed by Florian Gärtner . The film was first broadcast on September 27, 2008. "Das Feuerschiff" is a production by the Aspect Telefilm GmbH on behalf of the NDR, funded by the nordmedia Fonds GmbH in Lower Saxony and Bremen.
