Michelle Darvill

Michelle Denise Darvill (* 21st August 1965 in Toronto ) is a former lightweight - rower who until 1994 internationally for Canada and from 1995 for Germany took. She won three world titles in three different boat classes.

Athletic career

Michelle Darvill finished fourth in the lightweight double scull at the 1991 World Championships . The following year, she and Colleen Miller won the silver medal behind the German boat at the World Championships in Montreal . In 1993 Michelle Darvill competed in the lightweight single and won the title at the World Championships in Račice u Štětí . A year later she finished fifth at the 1994 Indianapolis World Championships .

In 1994 Michelle Darvill took part in the German championships as the rower of the DRC from 1884 Hanover and won the title in the lightweight single. The following year she came second. In 1995 she won the lightweight double scull with Ruth Kaps . At the 1995 World Championships in Tampere , Darvill and Kaps won the bronze medal behind Canadians Colleen Miller and Wendy Wiebe and the Danes. Michelle Darvill and Ruth Kaps also won the German Championships in 1996. The two also started at the Olympic premiere of lightweight rowing in Atlanta in 1996 . There the two reached eighth place.

In 1997 Darvill won together with Angelika Brand , Valerie Viehoff and Karin Stephan at the German championships in the lightweight quadruple sculls. Together with Angelika Brand she also won the title in the lightweight double scull. At the 1997 World Championships on Lac d'Aiguebelette, Darvill and Brand won ahead of the Danes and Romanians. In 1998 Darvill and Brand could no longer qualify for the World Championships, where Claudia Blasberg and Karin Stephan rowed and finished second.

Darvill returned again in 2000. Maja Darmstadt , Anna Kleinz , Michelle Darvill and Karin Stephan won the lightweight double foursome at the World Cup finals in Lucerne. In this boat class, they won the 2000 World Championships in Zagreb.
