Sarah Garner

Sarah Garner (* 21st May 1971 in Kaiserslautern ) is a former American lightweight - rower .

Sarah Garner took part in the Junior World Championships from 1987 to 1989 with the eighth and finished twice in fourth and once in fifth place.

At the Rowing World Championships in Glasgow in 1996 , Sarah Garner competed in the lightweight single and received the bronze medal behind the Romanian Constanța Burcică and the French Bénédicte Luzuy . The following year, at the 1997 World Championships on Lac d'Aiguebelette , Garner won ahead of Luzuy. In 1998 Garner formed a lightweight double scull with Christine Collins and won the title at the World Championships in Cologne in front of the boats from Germany and Romania. In 1999 in St. Catharines, Canada, the Romanians Constanța Burcică and Camelia Macoviciuc won ahead of Collins and Garner. At the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000 Constanța Burcică and Angela Alupei won the gold medal just ahead of the Germans Valerie Viehoff and Claudia Blasberg , and Collins and Garner secured the bronze medal, more than three seconds behind.
