Laura Milani (* thirtieth September 1984 in Milan ) is an Italian lightweight - rower .

Athletic career

Milani started rowing in 2001. In 2002 she won the bronze medal in the single at the Junior World Championships . In the same year she also competed at the world championships in the adult class and took 15th place in the lightweight single. In 2004 she took fifth place with Giulia Cappabianca in the lightweight double scull at the U23 World Championships , in 2005 she won the silver medal with Erika Mai. At the 2005 World Championships , Mai and Milani finished ninth. In 2006, Francesca Gallo and Laura Milani finished fifth at the U23 World Championships , and they both finished 17th at the World Championships . In 2007, Erika Bello and Laura Milani achieved twelfth place at the world championships with the lightweight double scull , and at the European championships they both won the bronze medal. After a completely botched 2015 season, Milani and Sancassani took eighth place at the 2016 World Cup opener in Varese, with the second Italian double scull with Giulia Pollini and Valentina Rodini taking tenth place . At the last Olympic qualification in Lucerne, Milani and Sancassani rowed to third place. Due to the exclusion of the already qualified Russian lightweight double scull after the McLaren report was published, the Italian lightweight double scull was subsequently invited to the 2016 Olympic Games as the first successor from the Olympic qualification . In Rio de Janeiro, Milani and Rodini took 13th place out of 20 participating boats.
