Angelika Brand

Angelika Brand (* 13. February 1976 ) is a former German lightweight - rower . She won one gold medal and two silver medals at world championships.

Athletic career

At the Junior World Championships in 1993 Angelika Brand took fourth place in a two-man without a helmsman , and in 1994 she won the title in a double-scull. At the Nations Cup , the forerunner of the U23 World Championships, she won in 1995 and 1996 in the lightweight double scull .

Angelika Brand started for the Karlsruhe RV Wiking until 1998 and from 1999 for the DRC von 1884 Hannover . 1997 Brand won together with Michelle Darvill , Valerie Viehoff and Karin Stephan at the German championships in the lightweight quadruple sculls. Together with Michelle Darvill, she also won the lightweight double scull title. At the 1997 World Championships on Lac d'Aiguebelette, Darvill and Brand won ahead of the Danes and Romanians. In 1998 Darvill and Brand could no longer qualify for the World Championships, where Claudia Blasberg and Karin Stephan rowed and finished second.

In 1999 Angelika Brand won the German championship title in the lightweight single. At the World Championships in St. Catharines she took second place with Maja Darmstadt , Anna Kleinz and Christine Morawitz in the lightweight quad behind the rowers from the United States. In 2000 Brand defended her championship title in the lightweight single. Together with Claudia Blasberg , Valerie Viehoff and Katja Cadorin , she also won the lightweight quadruple scull . At the end of her career, she started in the one at the 2000 World Championships in Zagreb. There she won silver behind the Finn Laila Finska-Bezerra .
