The German Rowing Club from 1884 e. V. (DRC from 1884) is a rowing club in Hanover , whose boathouse has stood on the Ihme River in the Linden-Süd district since 1948 . The association currently has 389 members and has 83 rowing boats. The only sport practiced is rowing . Robin Aden has been the spokesman for the board of directors (chairman) since 2018.

history

The DRC from 1884 is the amalgamation of three former clubs and was created in 1947 from the merger of the rowing club Germany from 1884 and the rowing society Hannover-Linden ("Ha-Li"), founded in 1899. The rowing club "Triton" was founded in 1928 by 1885 absorbed into the rowing club Germany .

It is one of the 50 oldest rowing clubs in Germany. Well-known personalities in German rowing, including Dr. Walter Wülfing , former president and NOK member, are directly connected to the rowing club. The greatest success is the gold medal in Germany eighth at the Olympic Games in Mexico in 1968, which Wolfgang Hottenrott brought to Hanover with great acclaim.

Sports operations
