Evelyn Herwegh

Evelyn Herwegh (born September 30, 1961 ) is a former German rower . Her greatest success was the world championship title in the lightweight - foursome without a helmsman in 1985.

Herwegh was part of the German national team for the Junior World Championships in Moscow in 1979 . Here she finished fourth in eighth place.

In 1984 she became the first German champion in the women's lightweight one. At the rowing world championships in the same year, however, she started in the lightweight four without a helmsman, a strap boat class . Since the lightweight boat classes for women were newly introduced this year, the races had the status of a demonstration competition. Herwegh won the A-final together with Beatriz Keller , Regina Mayer and hitter Claudia Engels .

In 1985, the lightweight four without a helmsman was an official boat class in the program of the World Championships in Hazewinkel . The German team with Monika Wolf , Sonja Petri and Claudia Engels, who this time led Herwegh as the batter, won the first regular world championship title in this boat class.

In the following years, Herwegh was the hitter of the German foursome, who won bronze in Nottingham in 1986 and silver in Copenhagen in 1987 .
