Claudia Waldi (born Engels , born July 29, 1964 ) is a former German rower who became world champion in lightweight four-pointers in 1985 and world champion in lightweight double-pointers in 1991 and 1992 .

Waldi won as 1984 in Ratzeburg first German Championships lightweight one were extended, behind Evelyn Herwegh the silver medal. Then she was nominated for the World Championships in Montreal , where she competed and won with Herwegh, Regina Mayer and Beatriz Keller in the lightweight four-man without a helmsman. In the following year Waldi also started in a four-man at the World Championships and won bronze with Petri, Herwegh and Ute Zobeley .

In 1987 Waldi was German champion in both the four and the easy double scull with Zobeley. At the World Championships in Copenhagen they then also competed in this boat class, but missed the finals and came seventh. In 1988 Waldi lost the championship title in the lightweight four without a helmsman for the first time, but became runner-up and started together with Christiane Zimmer , Sonja Petri and batter Kathrin Schmack at the World Championships in Milan , where they won bronze.

In the following year, Waldi won the German four-man championship with Ute Zobeley, Cornelia Cichy and Karin Zobeley and again won the bronze medal at the World Championships in Bled .

For the 1990 season, Waldi, who had married in the meantime and taken her husband's name, moved to RTHC Bayer Leverkusen . With Chichy and the Zobeley sisters, she was once again German champion in the lightweight foursome without a helmsman, and at the World Championships in Tasmania , the boat took fifth place.

In 1991 Waldi switched to the lightweight double scull. Together with Christiane Weber she became German Champion and also won the World Championships in Vienna . In 1992 Waldi won the German championships in both the easy single and again in the double scull with Weber, and at the world championships in Montreal they were also able to defend their world championship title.

Then Waldi ended her career.
