The RTHC Bayer Leverkusen is one of the largest sports clubs in Leverkusen and is one of the sports clubs sponsored by Bayer AG .

General

18 full-time and part-time employees as well as 20 trainers and exercise leaders are available to support amateur and competitive athletes. The sports facilities of the RTHC Bayer Leverkusen are located at three locations. The main quarters of the rowing department is on the Rhine in Cologne 's Stammheim district , at the Stammheimer Schlosspark : Above the jetty in the Rhine is the boathouse with generally accessible restaurants, boathouses, a rowing training pool and gym. The training center for racing rowers is located at Fühlinger See , Cologne's World Cup-proven regatta course .

The central sports and administration center of the RTHC are the facilities at Kurtekotten. Around the clubhouse, also with public catering, there are 26 outdoor tennis courts, a tennis wall, two tennis halls with a total of seven courts and a multi-purpose hall with a fitness room. There are two artificial and natural grass pitches as well as a hall available for hockey.

history

The RTHC was created on July 13, 1951 through the merger of three formerly independent clubs: the rowing club founded in 1910, the tennis club from 1913 and the hockey club from 1919. Director Fritz Jacobi became the chairman of the newly founded club with a membership of Elected 859.

Optimization by growing together

The existing neighborhood of the sports facilities of the hockey and tennis club as well as the boathouse on the Werkskai could be continuously optimized with a common clubhouse with regard to better integration. The objective was to increase the number of members to grow another club giant besides TUS 04 and SV Bayer 04 Leverkusen , in which the previously separate sports rowing, tennis and hockey could be practiced in a large club. Furthermore, a merger offered financial advantages in the expansion of the facilities and other joint investments without a mandatory increase in membership fees.

Factory sponsored sport

The RTHC is one of the 29 factory-sponsored sports clubs in which over 50,000 members are registered. This expresses the promotion of sport as an integral part of Bayer AG's corporate philosophy, which focuses on recreational / popular sports and the promotion of young talent. According to the Chairman of the Board of Management Werner Wenning , Bayer AG regards it as a socio-political task to provide company employees and their family members with opportunities for professional compensation and personal fulfillment through a wide range of sports. The RTHC's association work is under the motto "to promote popular sport without neglecting top-class sport".

In addition to the three core sports, it offers a variety of varied fitness and wellness courses.
