The 2nd division of women's tennis is the second highest division of team competitions in German women's tennis , below the 1st division of tennis , and was introduced in 1999. It was initially held in two separate seasons, was then temporarily single-track in 2010 and 2011, but has since been divided into two seasons (north and south) of seven teams each. The first placed of the two seasons will be promoted to the 1st Bundesliga, the last placed will be relegated to the locally responsible regional league. The two newcomers to the 2nd tennis Bundesliga will be determined in play-offs among the top players in the four regional tennis leagues (north-east, west, south-west and south-east).
