The tennis club 1899 eV Blau-Weiss is a traditional tennis and hockey club from Berlin , whose facility has been located in Berlin-Grunewald on Waldmeisterstraße since 1926 . The club was founded in 1899 and, like the LTTC Rot-Weiß Berlin, used the grounds of the Berlin Playground Society in Schöneberg until 1906 .

The 3400 members have 24 open-air tennis courts, five indoor tennis courts (in winter five additional indoor air courts), an artificial turf and a natural turf hockey field and a swimming pool at their disposal. The center of the facility is the Center Court with its natural grandstands, which when it opened in 1926, with a capacity of 6,000, was considered the largest in Europe. The tennis club Blau-Weiss Berlin is a member of the Leading Tennis Clubs of Germany .

For the duration of the 2006 World Cup , the German Football Association set up a fitness center for the German national football team in the tennis hall .

tennis

Blau-Weiss won the Meden Cup , which was played for the first time in 1921 and was the then unofficial club championship of the German Tennis Association . The first Davis Cup encounter, held in 1927 at the TC Blau-Weiss facility , was lost to South Africa 1: 4. The first women's team reached second place in the second Bundesliga North in the 2007 season, after being represented in the Bundesliga in 2006 . In the 2012 season Blau-Weiss was champion of the 2nd division north; the team has played in the 1st Bundesliga again since the 2013 season. The men have been playing in the 2nd Bundesliga North for several years.

With the exception of warm clothing, you may only play in white in the outdoor area.

hockey

The current (as of 2016) 800-member hockey department played no role in competitive sports for a long time until it has developed rapidly in recent years. The men started after the championship in the field hockey Oberliga Berlin 2004 in the following season a march in the Regionalliga Ost. So they played in the 2005/06 season for the first time in the 2nd Bundesliga , which they had to leave immediately, but which they belong to again after being promoted again to the 2007/08 season. In the hall they even managed to get promoted back to the 1st Bundesliga . From the 2010/11 season to the 2016/17 season, the men also played on the field in the 1st Bundesliga , for the 2017/18 season they were relegated back to the 2nd division, but managed to get promoted again immediately. A great sporting success in the men's adult area is the first participation in the quarter-finals of the German championship in the 2015/16 indoor season.

In 2001 the women were still playing in the lowest division, the 2nd Association League Berlin. In the meantime, the team was able to work its way up to the 2nd Bundesliga on the field and even to the 1st Bundesliga (2007-2017) indoors. Currently (2017/18 season) the women play on the field and in the hall in the Regionalliga Ost.

In youth, the successes are the 1st German championship title of the male youth A in the indoor season 2015/16 and the 2nd place of the German championship of the male youth A in the field season 2015/16. As well as two 2nd places in the German championship for male youth B in the indoor seasons 2014/15 and 2015/16.
