The Großflottbeker THGC (completely Großflottbeker Tennis Hockey and Golf Club eV , GTHGC ) is a sports club from Hamburg . Sports offerings include hockey , tennis and golf . His club premises are in Groß Flottbek in the west of the city.

history

The Großflottbeker THGC was founded on July 1, 1901 as the Großflottbeker tennis club; At that time Flottbek was still an independent municipality west of Altona . Initially only men were allowed to play tennis in the club, but a women's tennis department was set up in 1905. The hockey department was founded in 1911 and the club was renamed the Groß-Flottbeker Tennis and Hockey Club a year later. In 1914 the association had 100 members.

The golf department was added in 1931. In connection with the founding, there was the takeover of the then 9-hole golf course with clubhouse from the Hamburg Golf Club and a simultaneous renaming to the Groß-Flottbeker Tennis, Hockey and Golf Club. From 1927 Flottbek belonged to the city of Altona, from 1938 to Hamburg.

In 1949, two hockey rinks were built on the golf course grounds that had been dug up into allotment gardens during the war . The number of members in the spring of the same year was 461. In 1955, the reconstruction of the golf course, which was destroyed in the war, began on the remaining leased property (lessor since 1952, the city of Hamburg) as a 6-hole course.

hockey

The hockey department is known nationwide for its success. The 1st women of the GTHGC play in the indoor hockey league (women) (group north) in the indoor hockey season and in the field hockey Bundesliga (women) in the field hockey season .

The first men of the Großflottbeker THGC also play in the hall and on the field in the Bundesliga. The trainer is Wolfram von Nordeck. Probably the best known Flottbeker is the former national team player Phillip Witte.

Hockey is also played successfully in the youth sector at the GTHGC. Numerous participations in German finals in recent years have repeatedly resulted in titles of German champions in the boys 'and girls' field.

golf

Golf was played for the first time on the grounds of the GTHGC in 1906. At that time the Hamburger Golf Club was the host here. In 1930 the HGC moved to the Rissener Heide near Blankenese-Falkenstein. The site in Othmarschen was then taken over by the Großflottbeker Tennis and Hockey Club and has been operating under the acronym GTHGC since 1931. After the Second World War , part of the site (3 holes) had to be given up for the construction of the Christianeum high school . After that only 6 holes could be played. The GTHGC is thus the smallest golf club in Germany, but at the same time it is fully accepted by the umbrella association .
